Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

We use a Cascading Style Sheet to tell your web browser what your webpage looks like. The HTML contains the content of the page, the menus, the images etc. The CSS describes what it all looks like. So it describes the size of fonts, background colours and images, as well as where everything appears.

Drupal

Drupal is a Content Management System (CMS), it's Open Source and we think it's the best CMS available. That's why we chose it to provide our web services to you.

Web 2.0

If you're used to working with computers and having constantly to update to newer and newer versions of your software, you'll be forgiven for thinking that Web 2.0 refers to a new version of the internet.

AJAX

Normally, when you enter information on a form on a web page, you press a button (usually Submit, or Go) and then page reloads to tell you whether you were successful or if you'd missed part of the information that was required. It may say that you forgot to add your post code if you were entering your address. Something like that.

IlluminateICT has been working to develop a low cost entry solution for smaller voluntary and community organisations to let them get onto the internet. Using the powerful Drupal solution we have now created a method that will allow organisations to create their own web site in a day.

Glossary of Internet Terms

There will be no hard copy of our big internet glossary, no matter how nicely you ask us!

We're starting to build up a glossary of internet terms. Some of the vocabulary used when discussing some of the technical bits of dealing with websites can be be a bit obscure.

We try to be clear in all our communications with you and it's helpful for us sometimes if we can point you to a page on our site that explains what we're talking about.
