Server Upgrades, phase 2

To keep our servers quick and safe for the coming years, we need to carry out our largest server maintenance in ~5 years.

We'll be doing this in 2 stages.

Upgrades complete. This work took 4 hours and during that time, no site was offline for more than 100 minutes, most for a lot less. We do apologise for the inconvenience, but this upgrade was necessary and desirable!

From 7pm on 22nd May, 2015, there will be a period of server downtime to allow for essential maintenance and server upgrades. For those who are interested, we're moving to an SSD based infrastructure, away from traditional hard disk drives.

This will mean that your website will not be available for a period of time. more

Sites will be unavailable for a short period between 7pm and 8pm today, 20th October, 2014. This is to allow for essential maintenance.

You may notice other site disruption around that same time but this will also be minimised.

Server performance

Over the last few days we've had periodic problems with the performance of one of our servers. Tens of thousands of requests per hour were being made for many and non-existant pages across several of the sites we host. more
