RSS
RSS is a way you can access up-to-date information from websites, without visiting the site yourself. We can use RSS to display, for example, the latest news from the BBC's website in a block on your website. That way, your site will always display new information.
An RSS feed is any source of web content that has been made available by RSS. For example, a feed for the latest UK news from the BBC looks like this:
http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/uk/rss.xml
You can view the feed in your web browser, but it works best if you access it with a proper RSS reader - and that includes your illuminate website.
RSS can be taken to mean Really Simple Syndication, although there are other explanations available. It's called this as you are syndicating content from another source, just like news organisations syndicate news stories from other news agencies.
