Our history

illuminate ICT was established as a ChangeUp project managed by the Coventry and Warwickshire Infrastructure Consortium CWIC. Our aim was to deliver a sustainable ICT service for the Charity, Voluntary and Community sectors.

illuminate ICT

Four organisations led the project for CWIC, these were:

  • Coventry Voluntary Service Council – hosted one worker
  • North Warwickshire Council for Voluntary Service – hosted one worker
  • Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs – hosted Manager and one worker
  • Warwickshire Rural Communities Council – accountable body

Throughout the 1st year of the project a number of key areas were identified as being required by the sector. These were

  • Web sites and associated support
  • ICT Training
  • Graphic design skills
  • ICT Support
  • Trusted Advisors

IlluminateICT used this information to develop a range of services with a view to becoming a not for profit enterprise.

We rolled out a number of different services:

Web design

Fully functional Drupal websites for Voluntary organisations, Charities and small businesses.

Training & Support

Our philosophy is to build skills and avoid dependency in the use of technology and so we offer a range of training solutions including bespoke training solutions around the projects we deliver as well as training on popular office software.

Labs

The open source development area of our business lead to the launch of many of our products, including the website hosting solution based on Drupal and Drool (in-house software) and the SmartBox, a low cost, robust, and user friendly network server. We presented Drool at the Drupal Conference in Barcelona. We're still very active in the Drupal community - follow Matthew on Drupal.org.
